Meeting in Hungary!

Within the frame of the Erasmus+ programme the Hungarian (the fifth) project meeting was organized between 12th and 16th October 2015.

On the first day the Turkish, Italian, Polish and German guests received a warm welcome from their hosts (Gabriella Gazdag and Gábor Halász English teachers) at Liszt Ferenc Airport. In the evening all the groups debated the upcoming project tasks over dinner.

On Tuesday morning the groups took part in an English language sightseeing tour visiting the most impressive sights of the capital (the Citadel, Matthias Church, Fishermen’s Bastion, Andrássy Avenue, Heroes’ Square, the City Park). After lunch we had a bath in Széchenyi Spa Baths.

The next day we we paid a visit to the Hungarian Parliament. Here an English-speaking guide was talking to us about one of Europe’s oldest legislative buildings. In the afternoon we travelled to Petőfi Literary Museum where we could hear a very detailed and comprehensive lecture about Hungary’s national poet and one of the key figures of the Hungarian Revolution of 1848. After the visit we made a two-hour journey to Szekszárd where the guests were put up in Hotel Merops.

On Thursday morning the guests visited the Mayor’s Office where we had a long and warm conversation with the Vice –Mayor. Then at our school the Hungarian students gave us an unforgettable English-language  performance concerning poems, plays, reading aloud activities, music and folk dance by the Bartina folk dance group.

In the evening the guests partook of typical Hungarian meals  and they had the opportunity to taste some fiery Hungarian wine from our region.
